Gerónimo Chotin joins CX Pay for the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is a market we are serious about, and we are moving with the right person on the ground.

CX Pay

We are proud to welcome Gerónimo Chotin to the CX Pay team.

The Dominican Republic is a market we are serious about. It is one of the largest economies in the Caribbean, it has a deep tourism and hospitality sector, and it has a merchant base that has been asking for local acceptance and local settlement for a long time.

Why someone on the ground

You cannot serve a market properly from another island. Payments look simple from the outside and are entirely local underneath. Which bank a merchant already uses, how settlement actually behaves, which methods customers reach for, what a regulator expects to see, and who to call when something needs sorting the same afternoon. None of that is in a spreadsheet.

It is the same argument we make against the international platforms that assess this region from a distance and route everything offshore. It would be a poor look to make that argument and then run the Dominican Republic remotely.

What it means for merchants there

Practically, it means a person in the market, in the time zone, who can meet you. CX Pay already operates across more than 30 territories with 21 banking partners, and the Dominican Republic sits inside that footprint with settlement in local currency through a local banking partner.

Welcome, Gerónimo.
